Almost at the end of the 2021/2022 season

Peruvian exports of fresh blueberries total 218.823 tons for US$ 1.307 million

The Peruvian blueberry has reached 39 countries around the world in the recent campaign. However, two of them have been the main ones: the United States and the Netherlands.

The blueberry export campaign, which runs from June to May, has remained positive since 2019/2020. Even during the pandemic, in the 2020/2021 campaign, shipments continued to rise, exporting 166.943 tons for US$1.022 million, 40% more in volume and 32% more in value than the previous campaign.

Similarly, so far in the 2021/2022 campaign, which is about to end, Peru has shipped 218.823 tons for US$1.307 million, which meant 31% more in volume and 28% more in value.

The Peruvian blueberry has reached 39 countries around the world in the recent campaign. However, two of them have been the main ones: the United States and the Netherlands.

During the 2021/2022 campaign, 121.203 tons worth US$715 million were shipped to the United States, this was 35% more in volume and 31% more in value than the previous campaign. This country has been the favorite destination for the last three years, with a participation of 55% (two percentage points more than in the 2020/2021 campaign). Being the largest buyer of the Peruvian berry, the quoted price was US$ 5.90 per kilogram (3% less than last season).

The main buyers of Peruvian blueberries in the United States were Hortifrut Imports Inc., with a 21% share; Camposol Fresh USA Inc., with 17%; and Alpine Fresh USA Inc., with 7%. As for Peruvian companies that exported to the North American market, HortiFrut-Peru SAC stood out, with a 19% share; Camposol SA, with 18%; and Agrícola Cerro Prieto SA, with 8%.

On the other hand, Peru exported 50.849 tons to the Netherlands for US$300 million, 15% more in volume and 18% more in value than the previous campaign. This country has maintained second place in the list of favorite destinations for the last three years, with a participation of 23% (two percentage points more than in the 2020/2021 campaign). The price at which this fruit was quoted was US$ 5.90 per kilogram (2% more than last season), reaching the same price offered to Americans.

The main blueberry buyers in the Netherlands were Camposol Fresh BV, with a 16% share; Driscoll's of Europe BV with 7%; and Ogl Food Trade GmbH., with 6%. As for Peruvian companies that exported to the Dutch market, Camposol SA stood out, with a 19% share; Agroindustrial Complex Beta SA, with 11%; and Agrovisión Perú SAC, with 8%.
