Chile projects export opportunities in the Philippines
Chile has highlighted the opportunities that exist to increase fresh fruit exports to the Philippines, following the Chile-ASEAN Business Summit 2026.
The event, held in Bangkok and organized by ProChile, brought together exporters, importers and industry leaders from various ASEAN countries, with the aim of strengthening trade ties and exploring new business opportunities.
The event featured 28 Chilean companies and generated more than 300 business meetings with buyers from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
The Philippines has become an increasingly important market for Chilean exporters. In 2025, it was the third largest destination for Chilean agri-food exports within ASEAN, with shipments totaling almost US$66 million, representing a 26% increase over the previous year.
Growth continued in 2026. During the first quarter, Chilean agri-food exports to the Philippines increased by about 53%, reflecting higher demand from Filipino importers and consumers.
In this context, fresh fruit is expected to consolidate its position as one of the main growth areas. Chile currently has phytosanitary access for various fruit species in the Philippines, including cherries, grapes, blueberries, and kiwis.
“Fresh fruit is one of the most exciting opportunities for future growth. Chile already has access to the Philippine market for more than ten fruit varieties, but awareness among buyers remains relatively limited and export volumes are still far below their potential,” said Oscar Arriagada, ProChile’s trade commissioner for Thailand and the Philippines.
