Chile has participated in this fair for 5 for years, this 2017 is again present with a renewed stand and larger, as well as the participation of 26 Chilean companies, which highlights a large delegation of exporters of blueberries.

"For us it is a pleasure to celebrate this type of agreements that allow us to combine efforts to boost the consumption of our products. Working jointly with organizations similar to ours, and promoting the consumption of our fruit is always positive to continue growing as a sector and supplier at an international level. Today, Chile is the world's leading exporter of blueberries and this agreement continues to consolidate this leadership", Said Sergio Maureira, Secretary General of ASOEX.

For his part, Alberto Garrocho, president of Freshuelva, commented: "Freshuelva is proud to sign this agreement with Chile. As an association we have been working intensively to strengthen our promotion of blueberries in Spain, and the incorporation of Chile will allow us to create a campaign of more impact in collaboration with the merchants of Spain".

The Agreement

From the United States, Ronald Bown, President of ASOEX, also congratulated the signing of the agreement, stating that the organization promotes binational collaboration among entities that have similarities in their objectives and membership. "In particular, we encourage agreements that aim to exchange information, possess knowledge and promote campaigns to develop the overall consumption of the fruit category in Europe, Asia and the US."He explained.

"Although we have signed similar agreements around the world, Spain has grown a lot in importance as a market. So we are especially pleased to sign this agreement in the context of Fruit Attraction; an event that has gained importance for our exporters"Added Bown.

For his part, Andrés Armstrong, executive director of the Committee of Cranberries of Chile, said: "Our Committee initiated conversations with Freshuelva with the purpose of promoting our fresh blueberries from Chile to Spain and throughout Europe. Making this a reality is a very important step for our industry".

Roberto Paiva, director of ProChile in Spain, added: "ProChile supports this type of mutual benefit agreements, especially for the cultural, social and economic ties existing between Chile and Spain. "

Meanwhile, Charif Christian Carvajal, Marketing Director of ASOEX for Asia and Europe commented that the joint promotion will have the advantage of "fully complement" the cranberry stations in Chile and Spain. He also explained that the campaign will provide a shared concept and will see both countries cooperating closely with retailers through promotions.

Finally, Carvajal said: "In our recent seasons we have been very active in the Spanish market, promoting the export of our fresh fruits with different merchants and with new distribution channels, such as the Madrid airport. However, this agreement is a significant step in terms of the promotion terms, especially with regard to the b2b sector, which had not been promoted before. This is going to be a very good platform to promote our blueberries in Spain".
