Agrovision makes its first strategic acquisition: accelerates its global presence in the premium cherry market

  • Strategic expansion creates a foundation for cherry cultivation in Chile, one of the world's leading cherry-producing regions.
  • The acquisition provides immediate access to state-of-the-art packing facilities as well as established premium blueberry operations.

Los Angeles, CA – December 5, 2024 – Agrovision, the leading vertically integrated global superfruit platform, today announced its foray into premium cherry production with the launch of Agrovision Chile. This launch, driven by the acquisition of Chilean grower and exporter ZurGroup, expands Agrovision’s superfruit product offering and reinforces its commitment to its mission of exciting consumers and inspiring nutritious snacking habits through the use of technology.

Taking advantage of the optimal growing conditions in Chile, Agrovision will introduce premium cherry varieties exclusively developed to offer superior flavour, freshness and texture, in the 500 new hectares of planned cherry orchards.

“We are strengthening Agrovision’s roots in Chile and bringing premium cherries to consumers around the world,” said Steve Magami, co-founder and CEO of Agrovision. “Chile’s position as one of the world’s leading producers of premium cherries, combined with our commitment to delivering quality through advanced technology and proprietary genetics, allows us to meet the demand for exceptional superfruits that our consumers love and trust.”

The acquisition of ZurGroup, a family-owned company renowned for its commitment to quality in the agricultural sector, gives Agrovision immediate access to state-of-the-art packaging and processing facilities, as well as new land for cherry plantations.

It also includes 250 hectares of blueberries planted with premium varieties, which perfectly complement Agrovision’s Peruvian production window. With established distribution channels to global retailers, Agrovision is poised to reach more consumers with its premium blueberries and cherries in Asia, Europe and North America.

Agrovision Chile marks a new phase in the company’s cherry expansion strategy, building on already established partnerships in the region, including its collaboration with Greenvic, a leading organic fruit grower and exporter. In 2024, Agrovision and Greenvic have launched a production partnership to meet the high demand for cherries and other premium superfruits in the Chinese market.

Agrovision remains focused on inspiring healthy snacking habits globally. Its commitment to sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices will be a central pillar of Agrovision Chile’s operations.

Ensuring that this expansion positively impacts both consumers and the environment.
