Alpine Fresh invests in Dutch blueberry company ABB Growers

The alliance between Alpine Fresh and ABB Growers seeks to strengthen an annual berry program for Europe, supported by global sourcing, premium varieties and a commercial platform focused on quality, scale and continuity.

Alpine Fresh, a berry producer, packer, and marketer, has made a significant investment in ABB Growers, a European blueberry specialist based in Horst, the Netherlands. The transaction unites two companies with a shared goal: to bring the best berries from the field to the market sustainably and efficiently.

Through this alliance, Alpine Fresh and ABB Growers are building a future-oriented project based on quality, reliability, scale, and innovation. The combination of global sourcing, strong local networks, and advanced technology positions both companies to serve their customers year-round with a consistent, high-quality product offering.

ABB Growers has spent over 25 years building one of Europe's strongest blueberry networks, connecting growers across three continents with major retailers through its state-of-the-art sorting and packing facilities in Horst. Alpine Fresh brings global scale, a portfolio of berries spanning blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and access to exclusive and semi-exclusive premium varieties that differentiate both its farms and its customers.

The result is that European retailers can now source a complete year-round berry program from a single partner, with access to the world's best premium variety programs and greater geographical diversification, all on a platform designed for long-term business relationships.

Fred Douven, founder of ABB Growers, and Stefan Spanjaard, of Alpine Fresh, will jointly lead the company as co-CEO.
