Andalusia demonstrates its potential in the fruit and vegetable sector in Berlin

Last Friday, the 30th edition of 'Fruit Logistica' in Berlin, the most important fair for the fruit and vegetable market, concluded.

A sector that is led by Andalusia as the leading region in fruit and vegetable exports in Spain and where the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Andalusian Government, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, visited, who highlighted the benefits and innovative projects that Andalusia shows in this international showcase.

It was in Hall 18 where Fernández-Pacheco announced the first data from the study on the water footprint in greenhouses. These data confirm that the production of fruit and vegetables in greenhouses in Andalusia is sustainable and responsible in its use of water.

The minister also stressed that the regional government will increase the subsidy for modernisation of agricultural holdings that supports the acquisition of agricultural machinery and equipment to 150 million euros.

On the business side, on the Huelva side, Freshuelva has obtained a very positive balance and a new boost to the promotion of Huelva berries, which have aroused great interest among the attendees, where different regional, national and European representatives have praised "the excellence" of Huelva berries, where meetings have also been held in which those responsible for Freshuelva have been able to convey the needs and concerns of the sector, focused especially on the matter of hydraulic infrastructures and the lack of manpower for the harvesting campaign.
