Protocol approved for export of fresh blueberries from Peru to China
During the 24 APEC Summit to be held from 19 to 20 in November in Lima, the phytosanitary protocol to be complied with will be signed.
Specialists of the National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) approved this week the protocol for the export of fresh blueberry from Peru to China, document that will be subscribed in the Forum of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
The international negotiations to open this market began in the 2015, after having concluded the access of the Hass avocado from Peru to the Chinese market.
Thus, during the 24 APEC Summit to be held from 19 to November 20 in Lima, the phytosanitary protocol to be signed will be signed to export Peruvian blueberries to the Asian giant, a market composed of more than 1.400 million consumers.
Peruvian exporters expect to start shipments of this fruit next December, since the product would enjoy the interest that the celebrations of the Chinese New Year, to be held at the end of January of the 2017.
The President of Pro Cranberries, Miguel Bentin, thanked the efforts of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Agriculture and Senasa, for the efforts made during his trip to China.

- Peru has more than 4.000 has planted blueberries and so far this year 2016 have exported 17.547 tons of fruit exceeding 11.327 tonnes dispatched 2015, with the main destinations being the United States, Holland, United Kingdom and Canada .
- In recent years, Senasa and AQSIQ have established a close relationship that opened the doors to the Hass avocado, grape, mango and Peruvian asparagus. The access of pomegranate, quinoa grains, evaporated milk and condensed milk is also expected soon, since Peru is a guarantee in agricultural health because of its status as free of foot-and-mouth disease.
