Talquinos bullfighters can learn more about pest management and control in a new Technical Conference
Technical session on critical pest management points will be held on October 20 in Talca.
The Blueberries Committee, together with Corfo, will hold a series of technical conferences for producers, agronomists, export technicians, administrators and professionals of the sector, with the aim of delivering more and better tools for the management and control of pests.
The days, oriented to the guide and surveillance of Lobesia botrana in conventional and organic gardens, are part of the project "Dissemination of a monitoring, recognition, management and control system Lobesia botrana in companies producing blueberries, as a basis for containment in regions RM, VI and VII ".
For the Technical Manager of the Committee, Julia Pinto, these initiatives mean a contribution in the fight against various pests. "Chile is a country that is characterized by exporting quality fruit, and the Technical Days are very helpful for the workers of the industry who are daily verifying the safety of the destination blueberries"he said.
While these activities are aimed at dissemination on the critical points of the management of the moth Lobesia botrana in blueberry orchards, there will also be information about a plague that has affected the production of this fruit in countries like the United States and that the authorities are monitoring. "Drosophila with spotted wings (Drosophila suzukii or Matsumura) is a plague that can potentially enter Chile from Argentina, so as a Committee we are assuming prevention work together with the Agricultural and Livestock Service, SAG", indicates Pinto.
The Technical Days are aimed at producers, agronomists, export technicians, administrators and professionals in the sector, and in the case of Talca, this will be held on Tuesday 20 in October from the 15 hrs. at Hotel Diego de Almagro, located at 4 Norte 1011 esq. 3 East, Talca.
