Argentina: Producers and provincial government plan the blueberry season
The president of APAMA received the Secretary of Commerce of the province and officials of the Ministry of Production. The International Congress of the sector, the commercial mission to China and the possibility of incorporating maritime transport, were some of the topics on the agenda.
The president of the Association of Blueberry Producers of the Mesopotamia Argentina (APAMA), Omar Chiarello, received at noon the Secretary of Commerce of the province of Entre Ríos, Néstor Loggio, who arrived at the headquarters accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Production. The host institution was accompanied by treasurer Juan Ramón Paredes and technical advisor Gonzalo Carlazara. For the Ministry, were the general director of Internal Commerce, Jesus Perez Mendoza; the secretary of Commerce, María José Perottino; and the general director of International Relations, Julieta Streich.
The objective of the meeting was to start planning the joint work agenda for this year, meeting the demands of the sector and the main activities undertaken by the provincial government.
Among the topics discussed, the status of negotiations for the entry of local production into Chinese markets was discussed. This initiative had been started during the past year through APAMA and other national institutions, whose representatives met at that time with officials of the Chinese phytosanitary agencies. In this sense, Chiarello updated on the progress and was optimistic that it would be completed soon. "China is a strategic partner of Argentina and a market to which large sectors wish to enter, but it is very demanding in its phytosanitary protocols due to the large population and it is being worked to achieve them", assured Chiarello.
The Asian country will arrive in the next few months a commercial mission financed by the Federal Investment Council and headed by Governor Gustavo Bordet himself, who will accompany leaders from different productive sectors. From the provincial government reported that seek to finalize strategic work meetings to promote new business. "We are managing meetings with the agricultural attaché in China and with representatives of the phytosanitary agencies", detailed Perottino.
Another of the points addressed was the organization of the 2016 IBO, the international meeting of the sector that in September will have Concordia as headquarters that will receive more than five hundred references from around the world. This event is organized by the national agency of the cranberry sector, the Argentinean Blueberry Comitte (ABC). It also seeks to bring the dissemination of this convention to Chinese lands, establishing links with Ambassador Diego Guelar.
Finally, Loggio confirmed a forthcoming meeting with the new director of Ports of the province, Leonardo Cabrera, with the purpose of beginning negotiations for the maritime transport and logistics of the arandanera production of Concordia.
