Argentina: They will promote their own varietal development of blueberries

Professional authorities and technicians from CAFESG, INTA, APAMA, and the Food Faculty agreed on the intention of advancing with varietal development of the Salto Grande region, based on the installed capacities and professions that exist in the region.

In this regard, Eduardo Asueta, a member of CAFESG, maintained that “a variety of its own, especially suited to our climate and our natural resources, is the key to the sustainability of this productive sector, and the interesting thing is that the region already has human resources and technology to make this development, while the private sector is aware that it must participate in this investment project. "

Regarding progress, Asueta said that “we all agree that the need exists and is important, that we have the resources, and that if each participating agency fulfills its role, we are in a position to move forward.

“It is a project with a minimum term of 5 years, and we must deepen what has been planned up to now, define costs and advance in an inter-institutional agreement that allows us to start the research process.”

For her part, Ing. Gloria Pérez, Director of the Concordia Extension Unit of INTA, maintained that: “It was an interesting meeting in which we added potentialities with the common interest of working for such an important productive sector, with so much social impact in the region.

The joint work in a synergistic way is what allows us to put in value our capacities and in particular that of our professionals and our equipment. ”

Lastly, Asueta said that: “We have some progress already made by Inta, from a project that was discontinued, but that has to contribute, from Cafesg we have an Engineer specialized in genetics, which we plan to focus on the project, and at the same time provide you with the management that a project of these characteristics requires.

For their part, Inta and Uner also have the technological capacity installed to carry out this development, and APAMA is very aware that this great opportunity represents an investment that is justified. ”

The meeting was attended by: for Cafesg, Eduardo Asueta, Cafesg member, Ing. Ivana Wallingre and Ing. Viviana Rodríguez; Ing. Lourdes Bourdin, Ing. Miguel Garabello, and Director Gloria Pérez, and by APAMA Ing. Alejandro Pannunzio and businessman Gabriel Wasserman did it.
