Arrival of Chilean blueberries to the United States will reach record number in week 5

Although they had a slower start than expected this season, shipments of Chilean blueberries since the 51 week to the United States and Canada have been greater than last season. In fact, during the 5 week, the US market will see a new record of weekly arrivals, with more than 6.000 tons of blueberries entering.

Thus, the distance between the volume of last season and that of it will quickly decrease. While Europe and Asia have seen fall of 18% and 15% respectively, the volume of North America has dropped hardly an 2% and the exports to the week 3 to North America arrived at the 42.453 tons, an 68% of the exports of blueberries From Chile.

To support the strong arrival of blueberries to the US market, the Cranberry Committee (Chilean Blueberry Committee, CBC) has launched a series of promotions in the country. During the winter the CBC will be broadcasting promotions for retail and social networks, as well as videos of new recipes and orchards to engage consumers in the history of Chilean blueberries.

Karen Brux, Director of the Chilean Fresh Fruit Association has said that "We want to increase the winter consumption of fresh Chilean blueberries. The videos are short and direct, but we have also designed them to be personal and engaging. The goal is to use a minute to take the Chilean blueberries to the world for consumers and another minute to show the great taste of their recipes that anyone can make. " pointing out that "It's about giving more reasons to people to eat Chilean blueberries".
