Chile: Second round of negotiations for the deepening of the Chile-China FTA concludes with positive results

The Second Round of Deepening of the Chile - China FTA was held last week at the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), located in Beijing, China. The negotiation was led by Liang Hong, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Commerce of China and Pablo Urria, Director of Bilateral Economic Affairs of Direcon.

On their opening day, both negotiating leaders reaffirmed the commitment of the countries to make the necessary efforts to conclude the negotiation this year, in order to materialize it during the APEC Leaders Summit to be held in Vietnam during the month of November. Likewise, they agreed to recognize the progress made between the sessions by the negotiating teams, since they served as the basis for the preparation of this second round.

On this occasion, the working groups on market access, rules of origin, trade in services, trade rules (which include topics such as E-Commerce, competition, public procurement, environment, customs procedures and trade facilitation) met. technical and economic cooperation, making progress in the texts of the chapters that will shape the deepening of the FTA.

In the same way, both parties agreed to continue the work parallel to the sessions and to hold the III Round in Santiago during the last week of the month of August.
