Chile gets permission to export fresh cranberries to the US UU

The 9 of September, the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection Service (APHIS) of the United States, announced its decision to authorize the importation of fresh red cranberries from Chile.

In a statement, APHIS indicated that, based on the results of a pest risk assessment, it had concluded that the risks of introducing or disseminating plant pests or noxious weeds could be mitigated with the application of one or more of the designated phytosanitary measures . The following measures will be applied for the import of fresh red cranberries from Chile:

  • They must be imported as commercial remittances only.
  • Each consignment of blueberries must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the national phytosanitary protection service of Chile.
  • Each consignment is subject to inspection upon arrival at the port of entry to the United States.
