Chile loses more than 8% in the export of fresh fruit
In the period from September 1, 2019 to April 26, 2020 (the season lasts), Chile exported 1.726.883 tons of fresh fruit, a figure that represents a 8,02% drop in relation to the previous campaign.
Figures from the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile (ASOEX) detail that the Far East received 31,6% of total shipments, followed by North America with 30,4%, Europe with 20,5%, Latin America with 14% and the Middle East with 3,4%.
Most of the markets reflected falls, which added to confirm the drop in this season of Chilean fruit. But two cases were the exception: Europe and the Middle East, which had increases of 0,89% and 15,27%, respectively.
Far East fell by 0,57%, North America about 40% and Latin America 21,6%.
Discriminated by country, the numbers indicate that China receives the most Chilean fruit, with 442.766 tons and an increase of 11,36%; United States with 490.690 tons and a decrease of 28,8%; and the Netherlands with 120.663 tons and an increase of 3,43%.
