Chile: 2019 Cranberry Harvest and Export Report, 44 Week

During the 43 week, 259 tons were mostly exported by air, this represents a drop from the previous week when 323 tons were exported. This adjustment could be associated with issues of delay in the imputation of information, added to the strikes of some ports observed this week. This, because in the zones of harvest the volumes keep up. This week (44) there is a greater regularity in the departures, with a dominance in the air dispatches and ports operating with certain normality, therefore the output volumes should maintain an upward trend in the coming weeks.

At a time when the volume begins to grow and consequently the maritime dispatches, some ports have joined the shutdowns making the export activity of this week 44 somewhat difficult. The situation in the ports will be evaluated during the next weeks.

Until 43 week there are 1.160 tons exported, this is an increase of 49% over the previous season to the same week. Of this total, 667 tons correspond to organic blueberries, this is an 57% of the total exported. Blueberry shipments have focused primarily on the North American market, which represents 70% of shipments, while the Far East the remaining 30%. Other markets such as Europe, Latin America and the Middle East have minimum quantities sent.
