Concordia: Million Dollar Losses in Extra Berries Cranberry Packing Fire
The fire was controlled at the blueberry packing plant located on the 22 provincial route in Concordia, belonging to the company Extra Berries.
The facilities of Extra Berries that were affected are in the 5 kilometer of the Provincial Route 22, district of Yuquerí Station and they covered 3.500 square meters of structures.
After the action, the Fire Department has reported that the losses are millions, because in the Yuquerí Station plant is the packing house of the company, with cutting-edge machinery that was destroyed by the flames, causing the millionaire losses reported.
According to El Heraldo de Concordia, the incident began around the 18: 00 on Monday 26 and the origin of the flames is unknown.
Extra Berries is the largest exporter of blueberries in South America, and is linked to the Bulgheroni family, owner of the oil company Bridas, with blueberry and agricultural operations in Tucumán and Salta, as well as those of Concordia. It is chaired by the former president of the Argentine Rural Society, Enrique Crotto.
