Coquimbo with water for two years
With the water accumulated this year, the agriculture of the IV Region could have guaranteed the resource for two seasons, said Dr. Pablo Álvarez, director of the PROMMRA laboratory at the University of La Serena, at the seminar «Agroclimatic projections, financing alternatives and the importance of the agricultural family business», organized by Fedefruta and Sociedad Agrícola del Norte, through the Transfer and Financial Advisory Node that runs SAN. The previous thing would be allowing that the fruit production of the zone is reactivated, according to the expert: "We are seeing the fruit trees returning, the olive trees, the table vines... There is a resurgence of activity with quite a bit of momentum, due to the guarantee of water security". It is estimated that the situation will allow to begin to approach the normal levels of water distribution to producers, both in the Choapa and Limarí basins.
