South Korea gives green light to import of blueberries from New Zealand
According to scoop.co.nz, New Zealand has granted access to the Korean market for New Zealand blueberries, which will allow New Zealand producers to export around 5 million dollars a year, as announced yesterday by the Minister of Commerce and Agriculture, Todd McClay.
"This is a victory for our exporters, following the successful removal of $190 million in non-tariff barriers last year. We remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce barriers, open new markets and put more value back into the pockets of exporters," said the New Zealand minister.
He added that “increased market access is a key element of the Government’s strategy to increase the commercial value of New Zealand’s safe, high-quality products. This will contribute to our ambitious goal of doubling the value of exports in ten years.”
It is worth noting that Korea published - last week - the legal requirements for the importation of New Zealand blueberries.
