USA evaluated the pre-shipment plans for the export of fruit from Argentina
Officials from the National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA) and from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA APHIS) held a meeting in which the plans for pre-shipment work for the export of fresh fruit from Argentina.
Specifically, the 2016 blueberry export campaign, the updating of the Health Control and Eradication of Fruit Fly programs, and the Prevention and Eradication of Lobesia botrana, and the update of the work plan for the export of blueberries was signed.
Both parties highlighted the excellent work that was carried out during the current season of export of blueberries, whose achievement resulted in reducing to zero the detections in destination of companion pests.
"This was achieved with the participation and commitment of the joint work of the peer organizations, the Ministries of Agribusiness and Transport of the Nation, the government of the province of Tucumán, the private sector, and the rest of the members of the productive-export chain", Said the director of Phytosanitary Certification, Martín Delucis.
The meeting was headed by the National Director of Plant Protection of Senasa, Diego Quiroga, and staff from the directions of Plant Health, Plant Quarantine, Phytosanitary Certification and the International Relations Coordination participated.
The North American delegation, in charge of the pre-shipment programs that Argentina maintains with that country for the export of fruits, was integrated by the new central director of the Pre-shipment Programs, Jennifer Smythe, the regional director for South America, Jo-Ann Bentz -Blanco, the Area Director for South America, Robert S. Johnson, and officials of International Services, Pre-boarding Programs and the Embassy of the United States in Argentina.
In addition, the manager manager of the Committee of Producers and Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for the United States (Copexeu), Ricardo Ajo, was present for the private sector.
The activities of the visit ended Friday 16 with a tour of the facilities of the National Service at the International Airport of Ezeiza, and the visit to a Treatment Center with methyl bromide, belonging to the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Regional Center.
