The Peruvian blueberry can now enter Canada without permission

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed that the import test period established by the Government of Canada has ended. In this regard, Peruvian exports of blueberries no longer require import permits, nor inspection of 100% of shipments.

The information was collected by the Commercial Office of Peru (OCEX) in Toronto, a body dependent on MINCETUR, which also added that the regular inspection rate of fresh blueberries is between 20% and 30% of global shipments destined to the province of British Columbia, and from 5% to 10% of global shipments to the rest of Canada, which is the one that is being applied to Peru since July 2016.

Peruvian exports of blueberries to the Canadian market have added 1,02 million dollars since September of the 2015, month in which the trial period of Peruvian imports of antioxidant fruit by that North American country began.
