"The sector grows, and grows solidly ..."
"Everything we produce in the agri-food sector has a buyer, there is a sustained demand, there is a robust demand, and not only manifests itself by demographic growth, but mainly by the entry of middle sectors into the business. There is a growing demand for Chilean agri-food products "
The former Minister of Agriculture and current director of the Agricultural and Livestock Service, SAG, Ángel Sartori Arellano, attended on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture of Chile, Carlos Furche, at the 3 ° International Seminar, "Chile, leader of the cranberry industry: New competitors, new challenges, new strategies ", made the April 28 at the Monticello Center.
On the occasion, the public representative highlighted the work and development achieved by the Chilean private sector in the standards offered to the world and stressed that "Chile currently has a virtuous triangle: we have producers that produce quality, we have producers that have high standards of innocuousness and we have health, this has to be taken care of, "he stressed.
The director of the SAG addressed the hundreds of producers and diverse actors of the blueberry industry who attended the event organized by Blueberries Consulting and AGQ International, asking them to join a public and private commitment to take care of the achieved in terms of the phytosanitary conditions of the country, remembering that "Today, when tariffs tend to fall, phytosanitary conditions become the true entry barriers for markets".
Sartori also referred to the optimistic future that is observed regarding the demand and added: "Everything we produce in the agri-food sector has a buyer, there is a sustained demand, there is a robust demand, and not only manifests itself by demographic growth, but mainly by the entry of middle sectors into the business. There is a growing demand for Chilean agri-food products ", and then asks if this situation is the product of a particular situation, or has characteristics of structural reality, inclining towards the latter, explaining that the good outlook is due not only to the sanitary conditions reached, but also to the immense network obtained from the many international treaties signed by Chile, for which he insisted more than once on the public and private commitment to take care of what has been achieved.
In his reflection, Ángel Sartori also referred to the other challenges that must be faced and drew the attention of those present to the seminar about the new conditions or demands of the demand, ensuring that "Consumers currently not only buy by comparison of prices, but also require knowledge of traceability, how it is produced, and what is the degree of safety of the products".
