Consolidated and growing business in Peruvian agricultural exports

In eight years, Peru jumped from 11% to 33% in global value share in the blueberry business.

For the current campaign (2024-2025), Proarándanos projects that production will reach 317.941 tons, valued at US$2,150 billion. This represents a 15% increase compared to the previous campaign.

Blueberries are the most notable Peruvian agricultural export in many years, and their prospects appear to remain promising. A report presented by the Proarándanos trade association during a Blueberries Consulting industry event indicated that, in fact, in 2016, Peru exported this fruit worth US$237 million, representing 11% of the global value of the business (US$2,246 billion for that year); and that by 2024, shipments from our country would reach US$2,270 billion, representing 33% of the global value (US$4,692 billion). The global blueberry market was estimated at US$6,962 billion last year, which also indicates a threefold increase since 2016.

From a volume perspective, the correlation indicates that in 2016, Peru shipped 27.000 tons of the berry, which was 6% of the then-global volume (460.761 tons). By 2024, meanwhile, our shipments will reach 326.000 tons, accounting for 31% of total global shipments (1.054.340 tons).

For the current campaign (2024-2025), Proarándanos projects that exports will reach 317.941 tons, valued at US$2,150 billion. This represents a 15% increase compared to the 226.078 tons exported in the 2023-2024 campaign, valued at US$1,864 billion.

Regarding organic blueberries, the union stated that the projection is that they will reach 2024 tons in the 2025-34,501 campaign, which would represent an 11% share of total Peruvian blueberry shipments.
