Between January and September 2024, shipments of organic products showed a growth of 27%

Between January and September of this year, shipments of organic products abroad amounted to US$ 542 million, a figure that indicates an increase of 27% compared to the same period in 2023 (US$ 426 million 600 thousand), reported the Research Center for Global Economy and Business of the CIEN-ADEX Exporters Association.
In its 'Organic Products Report' it detailed that the 'fresh' presentation was the most important with 41.2% of the total exported, totaling US$ 223 million, followed by 'grain' (US$ 500 million), 'frozen' (US$ 192 million), 'powder' (US$ 100 million) and dehydrated (US$ 28 million).
Cocoa (US$ 91 million 247 thousand) was consolidated as the leading food, followed by banana (US$ 90 million 402 thousand), coffee (US$ 80 million 810 thousand), ginger (US$ 64 million 690 thousand), quinoa (US$ 50 million 430 thousand) and blueberries (US$ 39 million 323 thousand).
They are followed by chocolates (US$ 22 million 482 thousand), avocados (US$ 19 million 382 thousand) and mangos (US$ 12 million 363 thousand). The most dynamic between January and September were limes (782.3%) and oranges (484.3%).
The head of Economic Studies and Business Intelligence at CIEN-ADEX, Gabriel Arrieta Padilla, stressed that the global trend towards healthy, pesticide-free eating opens up a world of opportunities for Peruvian organic products.
He said that carrying out strict control, avoiding any trace of chemical substances, will not only allow us to meet the most demanding international standards, but will also position Peru as a reliable and competitive leader in the most select markets. "We are conquering more countries thanks to the unbeatable quality of our offer," he emphasized.
Europe was the main destination by continent with US$ 253 million 900 thousand and a share of 43.6% of the total, followed by North America with US$ 244 million 600 thousand, representing 45.1%.
These products also arrived in Asia (US$ 20 million), Central America (US$ 200 million), Oceania (US$ 10 million), South America (US$ 900 million) and Africa (US$ 8 million).
The US led the demand
CIEN-ADEX reported that 418 companies exported organic products to 75 markets, with the United States leading the way with US$210 million and an increase of 800%. It was followed by the Netherlands (US$16.1 million), Italy (US$109 million), Belgium (US$400 million) and Canada (US$36 million).
Regarding the regions, Junín was the most important in this offer, reaching US$ 117 million 600 thousand. Ginger and coffee stood out in its portfolio. In second place was Lima (US$ 94 million 700 thousand) with quinoa and coffee as its main products.
