Peruvian shipments to the European Union increased by 17.7%
Peruvian exports to the countries that make up the European Union (EU) between January and October totaled US$ 6, indicating an increase of 687% compared to the same period in 511 (US$ 17.8), reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX).
According to figures from the ADEX Data Trade Intelligence System, agribusiness (US$ 2) and mining (US$ 460) led these shipments.
In the first case, avocados, cranberries, cocoa beans, fresh grapes and mangoes stood out, while copper was the most important product of mining activity.
In addition, oil and natural gas (US$ 497 million 746 thousand), traditional agriculture (US$ 443 million 755 thousand), fishing for direct human consumption (US$ 270 million 546 thousand), chemicals (US$ 228 million 345 thousand), traditional fishing (US$ 170 million 374 thousand) and iron and steel (US$ 151 million 527 thousand) were exported.
Other sectors were textiles (US$ 59 million 616 thousand), clothing (US$ 49 million 703 thousand), non-metallic mining (US$ 46 million 926 thousand), metalworking (US$ 24 million 496 thousand), wood (US$ 20 million 057 thousand) and various (US$ 12 million 746 thousand).
Markets
In these 10 months of 2024, the most relevant destination was the Netherlands, the leading hub in Europe, with shipments of US$ 1,958 million 970 thousand, showing a growth of 35.4% compared to the same period last year, when US$ 1,446 million 525 thousand were obtained.
The main items were avocados, cranberries, liquefied natural gas, fresh grapes and cocoa beans. In second place in the ranking was Spain (US$ 1,652 million 709 thousand), which increased its orders by 9.5% compared to 2023 (US$ 1,509 million 121 thousand). Copper, avocados, zinc, frozen squid, cocoa beans, among others, were exported.

With the aim of promoting issues of cooperation, commercial development, investments and sustainability, the president of ADEX, Julio Pérez Alván, and the EU ambassador to Peru, Jonathan Hatwell, held a meeting at the headquarters of the export association.
