Spain: Exceptional authorization to apply phytosanitary products against the aphid in cranberry

The General Directorate of Health of Agricultural Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, MAPAMA, has decided to authorize the marketing and use of phytosanitary products formulated based on lambda cyhalothrin 1,5% [CS] P / P as an insecticide for the control of aphids in the cultivation of cranberry, in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

The authorization will take effect from the 15 of February of 2017 to the 15 of June of 2017.

The ministerial order indicates that the aphid poses a serious risk for blueberry crops and, until now, only the authorization of azadirachtin was available, a substance that is sufficient as a repellent but insufficient for the control of a pest. So at the request of the autonomous communities like Andalusia it is resolved to also authorize the use of lambda cyhalothrin 1,5% until next June 15.
