Spain: Freshuelva and Caixabank finance the project to design the new nutritional labeling of Huelva berries
The president of Freshuelva, Alberto Garrocho, and the territorial director of Western Andalusia of Caixabank, Rafael Herrador, have signed a collaboration agreement to carry out the project 'Design of Nutritional Labeling Under New EU Demands in the Berries Sector '.
In this way, Caixabank supports this initiative with 7.000 euros to promote the promotion of the nutritional and healthy values of Huelva berries, through the creation of a new label that includes the new requirements that, in this regard, have been imposed by the Union Europea, which Freshuelva will carry out with a total budget of around 20.000 euros.
The objective of this initiative is to analytically characterize and agree on Nutrition Labeling, according to current regulations, for the Berries sector (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries).
The study will include all the parameters that are currently mandatory, in order to serve as marketing argument to increase sales in the sector.
Adesva
The Agroindustry Technological Center of the Province of Huelva, Adesva, will be in charge of the development of the new labeling project, which will begin with the completion of a first analytical phase, in which the quantities of the different components will be determined, after the which will send the request for authorization of allegation to the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) for approval. The project has an approximate execution period of six months.
This collaboration action between Freshuelva and Caixabank is part of the collaboration that both entities have been developing for almost two years with the aim of developing projects that benefit the Huelva red fruit sector. The president of Freshuelva, Alberto Garrocho, has expressed his "gratitude" to the financial institution "For supporting the farmers represented in this partnership with projects that promote the promotion of berries onubenses".
With the signing of this agreement for the implementation of the project 'Design of Nutrition Labeling Under New EU Requirements in the Berries Sector', Caixabank shows its support for the Huelva strawberry sector, one of the pillars of the economy of the province of Huelva and the Andalusian agricultural sector.
