Spain: The connection by train with China through Russia will increase 10% agro-exports

In the framework of a working meeting between the Minister of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, Javier Celdrán, and representatives of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Other Agricultural Products (Apoexpa), Celdrán has stressed that the The reopening of the Russian route to China could generate an increase of up to 10% of exports from the regional agri-food sector to the Asian country.
According to the counselor, the reopening of the Russian borders gives an important competitive advantage to regional Spanish products, which now have a faster and cheaper route of entry to China than shipping and with a lower cost and similar deadlines Air transport
At present, China is the world's largest economy in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as the second largest importer in the world. As for the commercial relations of the Region of Murcia with this country, exports reached 119,59 million euros during the first four months of the year, which represents an increase of 101,6% over the same period last year.
So far this year, exports from the agri-food sector have reached 22,41 million euros, which represents an increase of 27,34% with respect to the first four months of last year and 204,8% with respect to the year 2015, when these sales were of 7,35 million euros.
In the last five years, exports of agri-food products to the Chinese market have grown by 232%, from the 16,09 million euros of the year 2014 to the 53,42 of last year, of which one million euros corresponded to fruit and vegetable products.
