Spain: Onubafruit invests one million euros in a new experimental farm

Onubafruit has decided to join forces and carry out the investment of one million euros in the exploitation of a new experimental farm located in Huelva.
It is about eight hectares destined to the testing and evaluation of new varieties belonging to the Fragaria, Vaccinium and Rubus genera, pillars of their selection, and the development of new crops.
This new land is an important contribution to the joint work of its research centers in Huelva, Segovia, Ávila, Salamanca and South America.

In this line, and especially in relation to the cultivation of blueberries, Onubafruit has developed a program to obtain new varieties more adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of the Huelva region, having obtained highly satisfactory results in productivity, Brix degrees, flavor and value. nutritional using specific agronomic management fruit of the work of the team of its technicians.

In addition to the technical-investigative nature of the Experimental Farm Project, this new space will serve as the headquarters of the Berryteca of Onubafruit. A playful space designed to bring the Berries to primary school students who want to know firsthand what these fruits are like, how they are grown and what their benefits for health and learning are.
