Spain: First “Berry School” in Malaga

The first "Berry School" will be a course organized in accordance with the objectives of GoodBerry and will be aimed at researchers, technicians and experts researching the berry sectors and the production of berries. themselves, as it will address various topics related to the industry. In addition to classes on plant genetics, physiology and fruit quality control, the week-long program will also include an excursion to Huelva, Spain's main strawberry-producing region. The course sessions will be held from March 21 to 24 at the University of Malaga.

Specific sessions on plant genetics and physiology and quality control of fruits:
  • Tools for phenotyping and obtaining berries
  • Cultivation techniques to stabilize performance and prolong seasons
  • Development of molecular markers for marker-assisted selection (MAS)
  • How to produce good quality berries
  • Good quality production systems
  • How to reduce the environmental impact
