Spain: Horticultural production left 3.080,13 million euros of profit in five months
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía this week revealed a report where they reveal the outstanding performance of the local export market for fruits and vegetables.
Specifically, the dispatch of these items accumulated a profit of 3.080, 13 million euros between January and May of this year, being the blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries the most prominent.
Rodrigo Sánchez, counselor of the organization, said that the numbers show the international potential of the fruit and vegetable sector in the region. He also mentioned that the figures were better than those of the same 2017 period.
He stressed that the main buyer of berries to Andalusia is Germany, whose purchases exceeded the 878, 8 million euros, ie 28, 5% of the total submitted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía.
Sánchez added that France and the United Kingdom contributed 469, 47 million euros (15, 2%) and 468,16 million euros (15%) respectively. He described them as "the three most loyal destinations, which account for 58,9% of turnover".
He cited other buyers such as Poland, Denmark and Latvia, whose figures are not so fascinating, but who believes that during the next periods will make much larger contributions because they increasingly trust in the quality of Spanish berries.

The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía stressed that both Almeria and Huelva with the two regions that stood out during the five months of sampling.
He maintained that between both entities 76, 8% of the value and volume of the fruit and vegetable market of that Spanish area is counted. "The commercial relations of Almería have been settled between January and May of 2018 with an income of 1.456,5 million euros, the 47,3%, for the shipment of 1,45 million tons, the 64,6%", said Sanchez.
He spoke of the potential of Huelva, region that closed the months of January and May with amounts in the order of 908,73 million euros, 2, 5% more than what he earned during the same period last year. He also pointed out that 337.250 tons of fruit and vegetable products were sold in that period of time.
