Experts analyze perspectives of Peruvian berries worldwide
National and international experts will analyze today and tomorrow the perspectives of the berries industry (blueberry, raspberry, aguaymanto and cherry) in the world market, as well as the current situation of berries in Peru, their production and evolution of exports in the last five years.
Said analysis will be carried out during the VII International Seminar of Berries, organized by Sierra and Selva Exportadora, which will be carried out in two regions of the country and will begin in Lambayeque on Monday 14 in November at the San Martín de Porres University Auditorium (USMP) ) - Filial Chiclayo. The following day, Tuesday November 15, this seminar will be held in the Cajamarca region in the Auditorium of the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN).
In both seminars will be attended by the CEO of Sierra and Selva Exportadora, Alfonso Velásquez Tuesta, who will make a presentation on the prospective vision of berries. Meanwhile, as international speakers will be the participation of the President of the International Organization of the Raspberry (IRO, for its acronym in English), Antonio Domínguez; the agronomist and professor of the National University of Colombia, Diego Miranda and Marlene Ayala, cherry expert at the Catholic University of Chile.
Among the national speakers will be the presence of the head of the Peru Berries Program of Sierra and Selva Exportadora, William Daga; the president of Pro Cranberries, Miguel Bentín; the researcher from the Agrarian University of La Molina, Antonietta Gutiérrez; the manager of Viveros Andinos, Juan Chinchay and the manager of Best Berries, Adriano Marcuzzo.
Opportunity for small producers
Sierra y Selva Exportadora, between 2011 and 2015, organized five editions of this seminar, which were held in Lima. However, starting this year it was decided to decentralize them so that small producers in different areas of Peru have the opportunity to learn about the so-called "Super Fruits of the 21st Century", for their many health benefits.
In this sense, this International Seminar is held within the framework of the National Program Peru Berries of this entity whose purpose is to show the different profitable crops of berries that can be developed in Peru because it has optimal soil conditions, climate and height for their production.
It also seeks to promote the entry of producers, suppliers and exporters into the national productive chain of berries, which are fruits with great global demand in the markets of Europe and the United States for their high antioxidant content.
