Cranberry exports accumulate growth of 24% to October

La Libertad is consolidated as the main producing and exporting region of blueberries, PeruCámaras reported.

All the Peruvian exports de blueberries they reached US $ 306,8 million between January and October of the 2018, figure that represented an increase of 24% with respect to the same period of the 2017, according to the Perucámaras Business Research Center.

The result was due to the higher volumes exported, which reached a total of 40.580 tons in the first 10 months of this year. This meant an increase of 51% versus 2017.

Among the main export regions of blueberries highlighted Freedom, with shipments worth US $ 158,3 million to September of this year, equivalent to an increase of 53,3% compared to the same period of 2017. In terms of sales volume, exports from this region reached 23.098 tons (an increase of 104,1%).

It is worth mentioning that to September of this year La Libertad stood out as the main region producing and exporting blueberries at the national level, explaining the 76,4% of total shipments abroad of this fruit.

Lima is further behind, with 8,3% of domestic shipments, Lambayeque (7,2%), Ancash (3,3%), Ica (2,5%) and Piura (2,4%).

In the case of the Lambayeque region, its volume of blueberry exports went from 124 tons, in the period from January to September of 2017, to 1.928 tons in the first nine months of this year, which meant an increase of up to 15 times . While the value of their shipments reached US $ 14,9 million, that is, US $ 13,7 million more than in the same period of the 2017.

Perucamaras indicated that The main destination market for national exports of blueberries was the United States with US $ 156 million through October of this year (a share of 50,9% of the total exported), equivalent to an increase of 43,1% in relation to the similar period of the 2017.

Meanwhile, shipments to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and China totaled US $ 67,4 million, US $ 27,8 million and US $ 22,3 million, respectively.
