Federico Bayá, new president of the Argentine Cranberry Committee
The Argentine Committee of Blueberries (ABC), which is more than 80% of blueberry exports in our country, announced that it assumed the new Board of Directors, which will be headed by Federico Bayá with a mandate until 2019. "We will seek to continue being one of the largest blueberry producers in the world (September / October), position ourselves with more quality and consistency in the market, highlighting our qualities compared to our competitors", Said Bayá.
Among the greatest achievements of the last administration, Bayá highlighted the recent incorporation into the Network of Companies against Child Labor, dependent on the National Commission for the Eradication of Child Labor (CONAETI). «It is a sensitive issue and although the sector was always committed, working on the issue, each year the commitment is greater and this year is one of the main objectives to continue improving".
Also in the last two years the ABC highlighted in its achievements that the country hosted the World Blueberry Congress in 2016; trips were made that are generating the opening of the market in China; also the positioning in international fairs such as Berlin and Rotterdam, but a key aspect - they highlight - was to consolidate «a dialogue table to achieve productive policies with the administration of Mauricio Macri«.
The ABC thus strengthened the sector's matrix. "We have managed to position ourselves as a source of reliable information in relation to the different actors, such as the government at its different levels, the media, embassies, and all the actors involved in the production and marketing chain", Analyzed Bayá.
"We represent 80% of exporters and producers in the sector; every year we are more partners committed to daily work. This year we will implement the work methodology by commissions where we have 10 key issues to address such as, for example: logistics, statistics, internal market, external market, communication and promotion, among others", Assured the new President.
For Bayá, «the international market changed and Argentina is preparing for the new world stage. Our focus will be on working inside, where each producer will seek the greatest efficiency in their fields, producing quality fruit; working under the open government model, that is, joint public-private sector looking for local measures that make the sector competitive, with a strong communication and promotion strategy in the traditional markets where Argentina is already established (United States, United Kingdom, Community European, Canada) as in new markets, targeting mainly China and other Asian countries", He explained.
Among the objectives of the Commission is to continue the unified and federal work that is being carried out with the regional Association of Producers of Blueberries of Tucumán (APRATUC), Association of Producers Blueberries of the Argentine Mesopotamia (APAMA) and Argentine Chamber of Producers of Cranberries and other Berries (CAPAB) in order to "show that the sector is more united than ever".
The new Board of Directors will be integrated by Federico Bayá (Early Crop SA) as President, Alejandro Pannunzio (Berries del Sol SA) as Vice, Marcelo Zanchetti (Berries del Plata SA) as Secretary, Pier Giua (Hortifrut Expofres SA) as Pro Secretary, Carlos Stabile (Extraberries SA) in the position of Treasurer, Nicolás Tretiak (Blueberries SA) as Pro Treasurer, Guillermo Olivera (APRATUC AC), Federico Maggio (APAMA AC), Christian Benazzi (CAPAB AC) as vowels in the respective order, and Pablo Ballazini (King Berry SA) with Gabriel Wasserman (Gramm SA) as Regular and Substitute Reviewers of the Accounts Review Commission.
It should be remembered that 2016 exported 17.000 tons of this fruit in Argentina, which has 2.750 hectares, distributed in the Northwest (1.300), Northeast (1050) and 400 in the province of Buenos Aires.
The ABC brings together the regional chambers of the sector, which are the Association of Producers of Mesopotamia (APAMA), the Argentine Chamber of Producers of Blueberries and other Berries (CAPAB), and the Association of Producers of Blueberries of Tucumán (APRATUC).
