Soft berries and strawberries that are too soft or have mold problems, a container of blueberries with a cooling problem or raspberries whose shelf life is not optimal - that's why the new company Fruit Cleaning Service was founded in Venlo. “We help companies that have received berries with problems and don't know what to do with them,” says Robbert Leisink.

“We have a solution for this Class II trade… Some batches can be sold elsewhere, but we can freeze other product to process as an IQF product in milkshakes, ice creams and milkshakes. We have professional freezing lines here in Venlo that are perfectly suitable for this,” says Robbert.

According to the fruit merchant, this service fills a gap in the market. «For example, now, at the end of the Chilean season, you always have fruit popsicles that, unfortunately, are no longer suitable for retail packaging. We now have a solution for that as a way of 'damage control' and helping producers. It saves the producer dumping costs and still gets the right quantity.
