Starting the activities of the XXIX International Blueberry Seminar Peru 2024, the Technical Tour was held in the South of the country, where a group of attendees from different countries, specialists, researchers and international advisors participated, visiting an ambitious project with an annual growth of 100 hectares and projections for 5 years, with Australian varieties, where it was possible to witness, analyze and observe the results of blueberry production in the desert, and the development of the plants in the field.

Peruvian exports of fresh blueberries have experienced a notable increase in value, reaching US$ 1,661 million between weeks 18 and 08 of the 2023/2024 campaign. This represents an increase of 16% compared to the US$ 1.438 million registered in the same period of the previous 2022/2023 campaign, according to reports from the market research company Fluctuante.

Despite this growth in the value of exports, the volume of fresh blueberries exported by Peru has seen a contraction of 22%, falling from 280.000 tons in the last campaign to 217.000 tons in the current period.

This increase in value is attributed to a significant increase in the average price of blueberries in international markets, which for the 2023/2024 campaign stood at US$ 7.59 per kilogram, reflecting an increase of 46% compared to US$ 5.19 per kilo from the previous campaign.
