Guatemala seeks to reactivate its agricultural activity after the eruption of the Volcán de Fuego

It is expected that farmers will recover their crops, obtain jobs and market their crops through association with the private sector.

A month has passed since the tragedy of the Volcán de Fuego occurred and the work of the Guatemalan Ministry of Agriculture has been constant in support of those farmers who were affected by the natural phenomenon. Faced with this situation, visits have been made to places that report losses in crops derived from volcanic activity.

In this regard, on the instructions of Minister Mario Méndez Montenegro, Vice Minister Felipe Orellana, made a work tour in Sacatepéquez with AGEXPORT technicians to determine what will be the most viable alternative for those affected can recover their crops or plant others that they allow to generate profits.

The farmers of the communities of Santa María Cauqué and San Rafael El Arado, Sacatepéquez, appreciate the attention and expressed their willingness to work together and reactivate the peasant economy.

In this sense, Deputy Minister Orellana said that by associating with the private sector is expected that farmers recover their crops, get jobs and market their crops.
