Hortifrut Peru will launch 3 new varieties of blueberries in 2022

The company has its crops installed in the Chao Valley (La Libertad), where they have 1.800 hectares of this fruit. It also has more than 16 varieties of cultivated blueberries.

The Production Director of Hortifrut Peru, Rafael Quevedo Sturla, indicated that 6 years ago the company began the development of new varieties of blueberry in Peru. In that sense, he announced that next year they hope to launch 3 new varieties of the berry.

He pointed out that the need for varieties It is a change not only for the blueberry industry in Peru, but also worldwide since this fruit is becoming a product of great trend at the consumer level.

"We as Hortifrut are always combining two factors: production and efficiencyFurthermore, we always seek profitability for producers, so by mixing that we will be able to advance with our genetic program. We are very excited about what is happening in Peru ”, he commented.

Variety "Divine"


In turn, the General Manager from Hortifrut Peru, Fernando Mendez, highlighted the characteristics of the variety "Divine ", developed by said company in the Chao Valley (La Libertad) in 2020.

He indicated that said variety does not require cold and stands out for its productivity, size, firmness, sweetness, low acidity and crisp.

"We are sure that this variety will have full approval and will meet all consumer expectations," he said during the IBO Summit 2021 that ended yesterday in our country.
