Huelva: The berry sector says that the Easter rains make it possible to finish the campaign "correctly"

The Huelva Association of Strawberry Producers and Exporters, Freshuelva, stressed this Monday that the rains that fell during Holy Week make it possible for the Huelva berry campaign to end "correctly." as well as starting "with guarantees" the planting of the following campaign.
The manager of Freshuelva, Rafael Domínguez, has pointed out that these rainfalls have caused the province's swamps to receive a "greater amount" of water and this means that "they are now above the volumes they had previously", something that helps red fruit crops.
On the other hand, he stressed that "so much humidity does not benefit the crops right now" because they are "in full production" and the strawberry as a fruit "does not require so much humidity in the environment", since he pointed out that they hope that "the air has blown dry" and that now, at the beginning of the month of April, "we continue to have fruit of great quality."
Already on February 1, the Huelva agricultural organizations demonstrated in Seville with the aim of demanding from the National Government and the Government of Andalusia solutions for the "complicated situation they are experiencing due to the lack of water infrastructure and accentuated by the current extreme drought." ».
All this, as a result of the 50% water restrictions in the province of Huelva for irrigation, which caused added concern to the sector due to the drought and the "non-compliance with the works projected in the Hydrological Plan of the hydrographic demarcation of the Guadalquivir" for which it was requested that "the dams that are pending" be completed.
