Ica plans to export more than 7.416 tons of Peruvian blueberries

In May (the first month of the 2021 campaign), 21.65 tons of this product were certified.

The National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) announced that the Ica region began the 2021 blueberry export campaign, with the aim of exceeding the 7.426 tons that were achieved last season.

According to official figures from Senasa, in the first month of the 2021 campaign, 21.65 tons of this product were certified. The first shipments were destined for the Netherlands (15.504 tons), Thailand (5.43 tons), United Arab Emirates (0.72 tons).

The main destination countries for blueberries are the United States, the Netherlands, China, England, the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Belgium, Brazil, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Panama, Kuwait, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala.

The export campaign of this fruit in the Ica region takes place between the months of May and December of each year. During this, Senasa executes various activities and work plans to ensure that the product is free of pests and complies with the sanitary and phytosanitary requirements requested by importing countries.

The main places of production of blueberrie in the region are in Ica, Pisco and Pampas de Villacurí where blueberries of different varieties are grown such as Ventura, Biloxi, Magica, Bella, Emerald, Bonita, Rocio, Springhigh, Ozblu Raquelle, Snowchaser.

With the technical support of the health entity, this Peruvian product has become the new thriving jewel of agro-exports in Ica and in other producing regions such as La Libertad, Lambayeque, Piura, Ancash and Lima.
