Intense promotion campaign for Chilean cranberry in Asia marks the start of the season
Prior to the Asia Fruit Logistica event that will take place in Hong Kong from September 7 to 9, the Chilean Blueberry Committee took the opportunity to start its campaign in Asia with some key activities and events to increase blueberry consumption.
In a statement, the Blueberry Committee said the mission seeks to promote activities that help increase blueberry consumption, and to establish business relationships with importers from China, Japan and Taiwan.
For Andrés Armstrong, executive director of the Cranberry Committee of Chile, these activities "They bring us much closer to one of the most important markets for our fruit, Asia has been growing consistently in recent years".
Taiwan tastes the Chilean blueberries in a "Kitchen show"
The kitchen show, led by chef Andrea Bonaffini, brought together local bloggers and journalists, in which the Italian chef prepared a salad and two blueberry desserts, which the attendees themselves could then prepare.
Armstrong stressed that the Taiwan market has a lot of potential and "With activities like this, we bring our blueberries closer to local consumers".
The Taiwanese market has been one of those that has grown most consistently in the last time for blueberries, reaching an increase of 21% during last season.
It should be noted that this was the first activity carried out by the Blueberry Committee within the framework of the project to promote Chilean blueberries in Asia co-financed by ProChile.
"This initiative marks the beginning of Chile's blueberry season, which will be complemented later with point-of-sale activities with the support of the commercial office of ProChile in Taipei."said Armstrong.
"Second Tier" Cities
Another of the activities carried out by the Blueberry Committee in Asia was to visit wholesale and retail markets in the cities "Second tier" (second level) of the Asian giant, which have a great attraction for presenting high growth and population.
These are cities in the interior of China that, although they are called "Second level", provide first-class opportunities, as they have emerged thanks to heavy investments, new infrastructure and a large influx of new talent.
"Reaching these types of cities means opening new commercial opportunities in China, where we have the possibility of developing the consumption of quality blueberries", says Armstrong.
Finally, the actions also contemplate the participation of the Chilean Blueberry Committee in Asia Fruit Logistica from September 7 to 9 in Hong Kong.
