"Export volumes are higher but prices are lower"

The 2022 Peruvian blueberry campaign is on track to reach 30% growth

Peru is on track to reach an estimated 30% growth in blueberry exports in 2022, but prices are trending downward. The 2022 blueberry export season is just over halfway through its current peak and as of week 38 (September 25), the country has exported 35% more containers than at the same time of year past.

“This year, Peru has exported 8.453 containers of fresh blueberries up to week 38 (September 25). For the same date in 2021, the country had exported 6.059 containers. Prices are lower this season and reached an average of $5,5 per kilogram in August 2022,” says Noé Gutiérrez, an independent analyst at the Adoc company.

The peak of Peru's blueberry season runs from August to November, and it is currently just over halfway there. The country has been successful in reaching new markets (Portugal, Israel and Jordan) in the current 2022 campaign. These new markets were reached by air and sea.

In 2021, blueberry exports from Peru showed an increase of 20% year-on-year. This year, growth of 30% year-on-year is expected.
