Assertive communication in times of pandemic

The agriculture sector is an industry that managed to overcome the challenges of covid-19, learn, and return to the market those products that were strongly demanded. Trainings, talks and even online webinars have allowed producers and farmers to stay active in the news of the blueberry world.

Something that the covid brought to stay without a doubt, was the great urgency to digitize everything. What was seen coming for a while, those methods or platforms that allow the user to access products easily and quickly, without spending extra time and delivering a good experience for the consumer, today are part of most industries. .

In the case of agriculture, which at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic was hit hard by the difficulty of moving food to supermarkets on time, supplying that public that continued to demand with great force those products of basic necessity , was one of those that managed to respond efficiently. The projections for fruits such as blueberries pre-covid and for the coming seasons, have shown a positive scenario for producers and farmers of this superfood.

Global challenges

David Schlosberg, global key account manager for Fall Creek, in a talk he gave to Blueberries Consulting, stated that “when we see frozen domestic organic blueberries I would say that during 2020 we were 50% higher than last year, an incredible demand because people are at home, cook more, see blueberries as a consumable at home and know the benefits of that food ”.

Today 2021, the consumer is a primary part of the production chain. It is an active player and demanding for a quality product and correct production processes. One of the great challenges is knowing the consumer, identifying those needs and requirements that they demand or the values that they give to a brand and a product. Blueberries have become well known globally for their multiple benefits that they provide to people's health. That is a factor that the consumer knows and is looking for.

An active consumer

Growers or farmers of blueberries today have a greater challenge. They no longer just have to produce good quality food, according to market demands, or find a way to take their fruit to more distant markets and make it survive.

Jacobo Efrain Cabrera, president of the agri-food councils of Mexico, highlighted during his participation in the XX International Blueberries Mexico 2021 Seminar that today it is necessary for the blueberry industry to remain active in matters of knowledge, varieties and new methods or technologies in order to deliver to the public those products that are being demanded. "Today we have an excess of communications and we have to achieve correct communication (...) One of the factors that are fundamental, especially during the pandemic, is communication and the virtualization of the modus opernadi of everything in the world," he says.

August International Blueberry Month 2021

Since staying active and updated on the new knowledge of the industry, it is important to obtain a quality product that is aligned with the demands of the market, during the month of August the International Blueberry Month August 2021 will be held, in its second version. On this occasion, farmers, producers and professionals related to the world of agriculture will be able to train with international experts online.
