Huelva's fruit and vegetable exports will reach €1.492 million in 2024, with soft fruit exports reaching €1.257 million.
The province of Huelva recorded exports worth €547 million in January 2025, up 6,6% year-on-year and accounting for 16,1% of the total exports in Andalusia, according to data from the Agency for Business Transformation and Economic Development (Andalucía TRADE), a body dependent on the Ministries of the Presidency, the Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, and Economy, Finance, and European Funds.
By product, after fuels and mineral oils, fruits are in second place, with 1.492 billion during 2024 and a +12,4% increase, a record figure. Among these, berries stand out, with 1.257 billion, also a record figure and a +13,1% increase.
The regional delegate for Economy, Finance, and European Funds, Lucía Núñez, highlighted that "Huelva was the third largest exporting province in Andalusia in 2024, with over €7.000 billion in international trade, and was the leading province in Spain in berry exports, reaching its highest level ever recorded."
"Furthermore, the province of Huelva recorded a notable 7% increase last year in the number of regular exporting companies (those that have been exporting for at least four consecutive years), which represents the second-highest growth of all the provinces in Andalusia. With a total of 446 companies, these companies have established themselves as the backbone of the export sector, accounting for 82% of Huelva's total exports," Núñez emphasized.
The Minister of Economy stated that "Andalucía TRADE is the best ally for companies in their internationalization processes, as demonstrated by the 166 Huelva companies that participated in the public entity's foreign promotion initiatives in 2024. These companies represent 37% of the total number of regular exporters registered that year, one in three." In this regard, she added that "the main markets of interest for our companies were, in this order: the United Kingdom, the United States, Belgium, Germany, France, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates."
In January 2025, the main exported products were metalliferous minerals, slag, and ash, with 151 million (27,6% of total exports) and a growth of +35% compared to the previous period, followed by fruits, with 122 million (22,3%) and a rise of +32%. In third place were mineral fuels and oils, with 82 million (15,1%) and a decrease of -42%, followed by copper and its manufactures, with 47 million (8,6%) and an increase of 358%.
The main markets in the first month of this year were: China, with €135 million (24,6% of the total) and a growth of +23,9%; followed by Portugal, with €74 million (13,5%) and a decrease of -1%; Italy, with €49 million (9%) and a growth of +178%; and Greece, with €43 million (7,9%) and a growth of +287%.
Andalucía TRADE
Andalucía TRADE supports the internationalization of Huelva's productive network with its annual program of initiatives. One hundred and sixty-six Huelva-based companies, a 166% increase compared to 4,4, participated in the internationalization initiatives organized by the Agency, generating 2023 participations.
28,3%, or more than a quarter, are companies in the agri-food sector (47 companies), followed by services (18 companies), industry (10 companies), and consumer goods (1 company). Meanwhile, there were 133 multi-sector companies (80% of the total).
The Promotion actions were those that generated the most participation (145 participations with 42% of the total), followed by Information (123), Consulting (57), Training (12) and International Network (8).
Specifically, the participation of companies from Huelva in technical conferences (71 participations), Brexit Plan (50), seminars (30), direct missions (22), business opportunities (22), group fairs (16) technical training (12) and individual projects (11 from 8 companies), among other programs, stands out.
