Lambayeque exported 35,108 tons of blueberries in the last 5 months

Lambayeque exported from June to date 35,108 tons of blueberries to different markets abroad, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, through the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), which certified the shipment of this fruit produced in this region.

This volume corresponding to the Blueberry Export Campaign 2021-2022, which runs from June to January 2022, It represents an increase of 25% compared to what was exported the previous year, which was 26 tons.

For the health authority, this figure marks a milestone for local fruit growing, as Lambayeque is consolidated as the second blueberry producing region after La Libertad in all of Peru.

El Blueberries from the Lambayeque region were destined for the countries of Germany, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Spain, the United States, Spain, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and India ( market recently opened to the trade of this valued fruit).

Worldwide, Peru is recognized as the first blueberry exporting country, managing to send 2020 tons in the 162,459 campaign, produced in Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Ica, Ancash, Piura and Moquegua to 31 international markets.

Sanitary actions for agroexport

Prior to the start of the campaign, Senasa specialists certify the places of production, verifying in the field the phytosanitary conditions of the crop and the agronomic management. In addition, the treatment and / or packaging plants are certified, where the product is processed for export.

Once the product is processed and palletized, at the packing plant, Senasa inspectors carry out the phytosanitary inspection, verifying that the product is free of regulated pests, soil, plant debris and other contaminants. Then we proceed with the phytosanitary certification.

If the certification is successfully passed, the Phytosanitary Certificate for export is issued, a document that ensures that the plant product complies with international regulations and the work plans and / or protocols of importing countries.

Likewise, during the shipment of the product, the good condition of the transport container is verified, to authorize its dispatch and close it with the security seal.

In the Lambayeque region, Senasa has certified 85 production sites to date, corresponding to an area of ​​3,481.91 hectares.
