Chinese fruit imports increased 23,6% in the first half of 2021

Data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) shows that the volume and value of Chinese imports of many agricultural products increased significantly in the first six months of 2021. The value of imports and exports of agricultural products reached 146.500 million in the first half of 2021, which represents a del% increase 26,4 compared to the same period last year. The value of exports was about 38.390 million, which represents an increase in 9,2%, and the value of imports was about 108.110 million dollars, which represents an increase in 33,9%. The trade deficit was about 69.720 million dollars, which implies an increase in the 52,8%.

The value of Chinese fruit imports reached 8.250 million in the first half of 2021, which represents an increase of 23,6% compared to the same period of the previous year. The value of Chinese fruit exports was about 3.250 million dollars, which represents an increase of 8,7%. Fruit consumption in China has grown a lot in recent years. The import and export of fruit is a very lively trade. China is responsible for more than 6% of the world fruit trade. The import of Chinese fruit for the first time exceeded the 10.000 billion dollars in 2020, when its value reached 10.260 million. The data so far suggests that China will easily beat last year's record.

The data also shows that Shenzhen it was the largest port in terms of fruit imports. The city imported a total of 1,03 million tons of fruit in the first half of 2021. This represents an increase in the 10,1% compared to the same period last year. The global value of this import volume was 15.190 million yuan (2.350 million dollars). The growth in volume and value of imports is mainly due to imports of cherries, grapes and oranges.
