Morocco has achieved an important milestone in its blueberry exports, setting a new record during the 2023/24 season (July to June). According to EastFruit, the country not only expanded its presence in all major fresh blueberry export markets, but also demonstrated notable growth.

In the season that has just concluded, Morocco exported an impressive 67.300 tons of fresh blueberries, 25% more than the previous season.

It should be noted that this represents an almost quadrupling of Moroccan blueberry exports since the 2017/18 season. During the same period, Spain's share as the main destination of Moroccan blueberry sales decreased from 80% to 30%.

Despite this change, Spain maintained its position as the main market for Moroccan blueberries in the 2023/24 season. Shipments to Spain grew by 11%, reaching 20.100 tons. Similar positive trends were observed in other European markets.

For example, exports to the United Kingdom from Morocco increased by almost a third to 14.600 tonnes, to the Netherlands by 42% to 14.500 tonnes, to Germany by 25% to 4.300 tonnes, and to France by 19% to 3.900 tonnes. . 

Moroccan blueberry exports spread beyond Europe. In the Middle East, the country exported 1.800 tons of blueberries, whose main buyers were the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.

Furthermore, Moroccan exporters successfully increased shipments to North America, with 360 tons sent to the United States and 900 tons to Canada.

Southeast Asia, encompassing Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, remains a vital destination for Moroccan blueberry exports in Asia. Morocco is currently among the top five supplier countries in this region.
