Morocco strengthens its export offering with a new blueberry and raspberry operation
Elite Agro Holding, through its Moroccan subsidiary Elite Harvest Maroc, has opened its seventh farm in the Kingdom of Morocco, marking a new step in the group's international expansion and its long-term commitment to one of its main agricultural markets.
The event was attended by HSE Al Asri Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Morocco, along with HSE Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, as well as local authorities, partners, stakeholders and members of the local community.
The new 200-hectare farm, located in Kenitra, is dedicated to the production of blueberries and raspberries, and has irrigation systems and agricultural technologies to optimize cultivation work.
Hassan Halawy, CEO of Elite Agro Holding Group, stated: “The opening of our seventh farm in Morocco represents a significant milestone in Elite Agro Holding’s strategy to expand its berry production operations in the Arab world and international markets. Morocco is not only a relevant market for us, but it is our largest berry production platform, and we continue to scale our operations through a portfolio of projects.”
He adds: “The berry sector is one of the fastest-growing categories in the global fresh fruit and vegetable market. Elite Agro seeks to expand its presence in this sector, building on its operations in the UAE and expanding into international markets.”
The opening reflects Elite Agro Holding's continued commitment to Morocco as an agricultural market and production platform for the group. It also reinforces the group's commitment to Moroccan agriculture, rural development, employment, and agricultural exports in international markets.
Elite Agro Holding's direct investments in Morocco now exceed 500 million Emirati dirhams, placing the group among the leading foreign direct investors in the country's agricultural sector. According to the company, these investments have contributed to the creation of more than 8.000 jobs.
Through Elite Harvest Maroc, the group operates production centers in various agricultural regions of the country, including Kenitra, Sidi Yahya, Fez, Beni Mellal, Sefrou, Marrakech, and Benslimane. These facilities cultivate blueberriesraspberries, pomegranates, pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, grapes, cherries, citrus fruits, persimmons and plums, both for the domestic market and for export.
Elite Harvest Maroc's operations are backed by certifications such as GLOBALG.AP, GRASP, Tesco Nurture, SPRING, Field to Fork, and SMETA. According to the company, these certifications demonstrate its commitment to quality, food safety, sustainability, environmental management, and good agricultural practices.
