Morocco and Mexico sign agreement to boost economic and industrial ties

Representing Mexico, the president of CONCAMIN highlighted the potential for complementarity in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and food.

La General Confederation of Moroccan Companies (CGEM) And Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico (CONCAMIN) signed a memorandum of understanding in Mexico City on Monday.

The memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement, signed by the president of the CGEM, Chakib Alj, and the president of CONCAMIN, Alejandro Malagón Barragánsearch establish a strategic partnership in trade and investment, while exploring new opportunities in sectors of mutual interest. 

The Moroccan ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, attended the ceremony.

The memorandum aims to facilitate joint trade fairs and industrial forums, foster dialogue between economic actors, and promote legislation and policies that encourage bilateral investment and trade.

It also opens the door to specific agreements and possible joint projects, including the creation of a joint commission to coordinate cooperation programs.

Speaking at the event, CGEM President Chakib Alj said the agreement is designed to deepen economic ties and unlock promising investment opportunities.

"We are paving the way for projects that will strengthen relations between the Moroccan and Mexican private sectors," he said.

Alj highlighted Morocco's industrial progress in recent years, highlighting its position as Africa's leading automobile producer and its rapid advances in the aerospace, textile, pharmaceutical, and food industries. He also mentioned Morocco's political stability, its modern port and logistics infrastructure, and its highly skilled workforce as key incentives for investors.

A mission to strengthen ties

On behalf of Mexico, the president of CONCAMIN highlighted the potential for collaboration in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and food. He praised Morocco as a fast-growing economy with solid natural and industrial resources, capable of consolidating long-term cooperation with Mexico.

The agreement was signed during an economic mission led by the CGEM to Mexico from September 22 to 25.

Organized in coordination with the Moroccan Embassy, ​​the visit seeks to consolidate bilateral economic relations and identify new areas of partnership in trade and investment.
