Mexico: Cranberry harvest begins in Sinaloa

In Los Mochis, Sinaloa, with expectations to provide employment for 3.500 day laborers, the blueberry harvest began in the vicinity of El Fuerte, Sinaloa. The start of the production of the fruit, which is intended primarily to supply the demand that occurs in the markets of the United States and Canada, is carried out on a surface of 400 hectares located in the vicinity of the ejido Boca de Arroyo.

In order to verify the progress that is presented in the development of the important project promoted by the agricultural company of Fuerte Fe, yesterday a delegation of officials of the Ministry of Economy of the State Government, headed by its owner, Aarón Rivas Loaiza, and the municipal president of El Fuerte, Marco Vinicio Galaviz, toured the facilities and verified the growth that occurs in the different production areas of this important production area in the north of the state.

He considered that this factor is basic to keep growing, so they hope to continue finding people in this area with enthusiasm for doing things well and wanting to learn new things.

In the area of job creation, he commented that they have been growing in accordance with the expected goals, since they currently provide jobs for 2.200 workers and this same year they expect to grow to 3.500 and in 2016 they hope to raise the number of workers above 4.000 day laborers.

Regarding the growth expectations that they foresee for the coming years, the investor commented that at this moment, apart from the blueberry, they carry out tests with other products such as tangerines and lemons, which they hope will give them positive results in the coming years.

Because the time is approaching when they will enter the strongest stage of harvest, the manager requested the support of the authorities to ensure that the movement of units that move workers to the company is carried out in a dynamic and timely manner.
