Moquegua: Senasa certifies first blueberry processing plant

As part of the agro-export growth that takes place in all regions of the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, through the Senasa, granted the first sanitary authorization for primary processing of blueberries, in the Moquegua region.

To obtain the certification, the establishment went through an evaluation process that allowed verifying compliance with the conditions established in the Regulation of Food Safety DS No. 004-2011-AG.

Senasa specialists verified that the facilities have a perimeter fence, hygiene areas prior to entry, personnel with a differentiated uniform suitable for their work, a reception area separate from the packaging area, and a registration and information system, among other requirements. .

Complementarily, the implementation of the manual of good manufacturing practices (GMP) and the standardized sanitation operating procedures (SOPs), as well as the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points - HACCP (for its acronym in English), was verified.

These procedures are applied before, during and after the primary processing of agricultural foods, thereby seeking to ensure the safety and quality of the products.

Consorcio Agrícola Moquegua SAC is the first establishment that will process blueberries for export purposes in the region and has already managed to make its first shipment of 122 tons, during its first campaign.

This fact will contribute to the development of agriculture and the family economy in the region, due to the greater demand for labor that the processing plant will require throughout the production chain of this crop.
